Does anyone know what the least expensive (even if used) Cisco IOS switch is? I want to have one for messing around with on a home network. I do have Cisco Packet Tracer, but it would be nice to have a physical IOS device too. Also I should mention that I do not have a serial port on my PC, which means I may need to get an adapter or PCI card.

There would be no such thing. They are all expensive for Cisco SoHo equipment. You may find one on eBay.

Not exactly a switch, but if you just want a little experience with IOS, check eBay for old Cisco DSL modems. I'd also look for stuff on ebay where someone might be selling it because the ports are bad or there's some kind of issue with it that makes it unsuitable for any kind of real-world use, but might be just fine for getting a little hands-on experience for a CCNA or some such.
