    ok, I got that straightened out. So I setup a static ip for the home pc and checked to make sure it will wake when connected to. Any other ideas what it might be?

    yes, I found out that it was my cable modem that got loused up. After getting hooked back into my router where it was before it eventually was able to get a signal.
