I have Recently Installed Windows 8.1 Pro a clean install on desktop of mine which has only one Network card. But came across a strange issue. My Network Connection icon in tray shows a yellow Exclamation mark while my system is accessible on LAN as well can access internet. Status on the icon shows the name of my network and internet access.

Same is the issue with my windows 8 Enterprise issue which i upgraded on diffrent system.

FYI : I have only one Network card , with static ip with default gateway and DNS assigned tried with putting 8.8.8.8 secondary DNS but no help. also i have Disabled/Enabled the NW and flushed DNS. Tried Updates but windows states that system is updated. Firewall is disabled.

Plz help

Open up Device Manager, expand Network connections and post a screen shot of it here. Or you can use Speccy Speccy - System Information - Free Download to show all hardware and any software that may be causing this.

You are not running any type of Torrent programs are you?

Download and run Speccy. When it is finished inspecting your system, it will give you a URL. Paste that URL in a post, so I can pull the output of what speccy finds, off of Piriform's server. Nothing private is shown in the output. Just diagnostic info and any programs, along with hardware.

The only other thing I can think of, is that there maybe some virtual adapter that is causing it. Speccy may show that info. You are not connecting to a network at a University or College, per chance?

There is no alternative solution. If on a domain, that error may be related to the computer not having the proper credentials from the AD Server. I suggest talking to your IT group about the issue.

Really cannot tell you why. Microsoft made a lot of changes with SMB on Windows 8.x.x, that were not there with Windows 7. A lot has to do with using a Microsoft Live account, while connecting to a domain. One of the suggestions is to create a Local account on the computer, and use that for logging in, vs. the Live account.

Dear broe23,

Thanks for your all the help, Another thing i observed while upgrading diffrent system today that the nework was not showing any error or yellow mark till it was not taken in the organisation domain. Once it was taken in domain the yellow mark reappeared. I am really curious now what change must be made to domain settings to eliminate error.

Fair enough broe23 , I will need to dig it out of my domain GPO for root cause. Just want to be sure that i eliminate the error without affecting the current Windows 7 systems. Will give it a try and let everyone know.

Fair enough broe23, I think I will have to dig in the domain GPO and sort the issue. Just a thought, is there any particular website which Win 8 is not able to access due to which reflecting a error...
