Help With Remote Desktop Between Office and Home PCs.

Hi Adam, the "unable to connect" window screenshot is exactly what I got when at home. I'll head back there and try to ping this work PC from there. Many thanks.

Hi Adam, the ping result said Destination Host unreachable, several times. I used the IP address.
    Packets: sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0.

So you can ping the IP from home OK? What happens if you try to use RDP using that same IP?

And is that IP the external IP of the computer at work or is it the router? You may need to look at this Allow Remote Desktop connections from outside your home network

I've only used RDP on the same network but that guide looks fairly easy to follow (I hope).

No, the ping didn't work. Destination host was unreachable. No joy.

The external IP was the computer, not the router. I need to identify the router's IP tomorrow.

Hi Adam, thanks for your assistance. I had an IT guy come look at the setup and he though the issues might lie somewhere within the registry that's preventing a connection. So we decided to reinstall Windows to this PC, creating a new user profile and workgroup network connection. I've done that this week but not tried a remote connection yet. I will tonight. Right now I'm having trouble deleting some previously created folders from the previous profile and server. Cheers.

Just My opinion.. Windows in the Win8 version is not suited for home use any longer. It is overly complex, and, even for experienced Windows users, it is counter intuitive in many areas. I think Windows 8 has taken complexity “one bridge too far” for ordinary users. This comment by me, a MSEE...
