I have been trying to remote into my Windows 8.1 desktop from outside my home network using the RDC program for Apple.
The basic setup from within the home network works fine. I turned on the port forwarding and DNS stuff on my ASUS router and that worked fine from within my homework network. When I go outside my home network, it get to the certificate message and then throws a tsl1_alert_internal_error and dies.
Anyone have an idea what this means?
I didn't include a whole lot of details because I'm not sure what is relevant here and I'm hoping its an easy answer.
You need to use Teamviewer, not RDC In order to use RDC, you need Windows Pro on the computer running Windows. Teamviewer is cross platform compatible.
RDC works fine from inside my home network, even when I tell it to use the DNS for the ASUS router with port forwarding. I think this means its going outside the network, then coming back in...
TeamViewer works fine although I can't get it to look nearly as good as RDC so I'd rather use that.
It will always work fine from inside the network. But the biggest problem is that Microsoft still has not resolved a lot of security issues with it. Teamviewer runs a lot faster on your LAN and off the LAN. Plus it is more secured than RDC. You are never going to get anything to behave like the antique called RDC.
