remote desktop,

I am running 8.1 and I have been searching for a solution to no avail, I have a laptop, a desktop and a surface all running 8.1, the desktop can connect to the laptop and surface but they can not connect to the desktop, I have gone to the allow settings and everything looks good but still can not connect, any ideas?

Most of us just use Teamviewer for Remote connection. Forget about Remote Desktop in this day and age. Too many unplugged holes in RDP still.

Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop aren't the same. The basic Windows 8 (non Pro version) doesn't have Remote Desktop Host.

thank you, that explains it, i have team viewer i just thought rdt. would be better, but i see it isnt the case, thank you

It is if you are on the same LAN and running say WHS or Microsoft Server. I run different OS platforms, along with sometimes I have to remote connect to my son's laptop while he is in school. I use Teamviewer on all platforms, along with Chrome.

It makes things a lot easier. You could try VNC if you are just doing LAN work, and not going outside of the LAN, when you are remote connecting to another computer in the house. Teamviewer is so dummy proof. That is why it has become well favored by so many.
