Yoga 2 Pro refuses to see NAS shares.

I have two practically identical Yoga 2 Pro laptops with 8.1. One of them (mine) and several other computers (W7 and 8) are attached to a Zyxel NSA221 network drive. I had no trouble mapping the drives, and they reconnect flawlessly thanks to NetDrives (no thanks to Microsoft for never correcting that issue).
The slightly newer Yoga 2 Pro (my wife's) cannot see the network shares at all. If I turn the media server software on in the NAS, I can easily attach to it as a media server. But mapping the network drives always gives me a "network path not found" error message. It's not a 'Credentials' issue, it just doesn't see it.
It shows up in devices as a media device and an "other" device (if the media software is enabled). But does not show up at all in the left-hand pane under Network. Nor does it show up while browsing when trying to map a network drive. Oddly, the Brother printer does not show up either despite the fact that it is her default printer. see what I mean in attached screenshots:

I've spent hours Googling my hair off and trying all the usual suspects (discovery on, firewall off, etc.)
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

As long as everything is connected through a router, and the router is not blocking stuff, same with the NAS or third party Internet security software on the computers. You should be able to connect to the NAS.

I would suggest to go back through the NAS setup and credential info. All computers should connect back to a router, whether it is wifi or wired connection. The NAS connects to an ethernet port on the router or a switch connected to the router.

You only need "Media Server" enabled on the NAS. If you are using it to stream through a game system, media extender on a tv, or blu-ray payer. Stuff like mp3 files, mp2 or mp4 movie files, jpeg's for picture viewing. You do not need media streaming on, just to use the NAS as a File storage device.

I know that I should be able to. And I can, on every computer except this one.
It's like a backwards definition of insanity: Both Lenovos are doing the same thing but getting different results.

The other is remove any third party Internet Security/Firewall software. Again, you have to go back and double check all settings on the NAS, to make sure everything is correct. Along with checking that the new device has "Network Discovery" enabled in advanced sharing options.

This is all basic Networking 101.

What setting on the NAS would keep the shares from just one PC out of 5.

Does it strike you as odd that I can access it as a media server? Wouldn't that indicate that the network connection is fine, and not blocked by the firewall or anything else? That's the inconsistency that I find baffling.

You are going to have to go through that yourself. I do not have access to your network, to fix your problem. Only way to fix it, is for you to go through the steps I mentioned.
