My computer always gives me the warning sign that I have limited connection about every ten minutes. I then trouble shoot it with (what else) windows trouble shooter. It fixes it self saying "The default gateway is not available." With the "Fixed" sign to the right. Then 10 mins later its down again. This only happens when I am using the internet not when I'm editing a video or something.

Is this on your home router/gateway, or on public hotspots.

This is a 'family computer' and my mom will not allow me to upgrade to Windows 8.1 (I'm on Windows 8 Pro) unfortunately. This my own router.

Brent, can you post the output of netsh wlan show all as a text output, not tabled. As for mom not wanting to upgrade. She is better of doing it. It will give her a better experience. Also try updating the driver from Downloads - MediaTek You can also download the latest driver from the computer manufacturer site, if the wifi adapter was pre-installed with the computer.

The Microsoft drivers that come off of Microsoft/Windows update have been known to cause issues. Also what Gateway are you using for ATT? Also do you have U-Verse or their older DSL service?

I am using U-Verse I believe. I downloaded the drivers and it seems fine for these few days. If it comes up again I will post it as a text post.

If it is working with the replacement drivers. Leave it be. Otherwise go for the adapter I linked. My son has had no issues with using it. Plus the Blue-Tooth actually works with it. Versus with the Intel 7260 Dual-band. Due to Toshiba left that pin out of the female connector on the motherboard.
