Need Help sharing folder and printer, asks for credentials

Hey guys, I am new to sharing stuff and I want to share one of my desktop hard drives with my network, however I went to advanced sharing, it says shared, but when I go to connect to my printer or the shared drive on my mac, its asking for "Network Credentials" and I have no idea what they are.

My account on my mac is terryhorgan and my account on my desktop is Terry Horgan and I have tried all my usual passwords. I have no idea, could someone please help? even my printer when scanning wirelessley to my desktop is asking for them lol.

On the W8 machine press Winkey e to get an Explorer window. Click Network in the navigation pane. On top part of the Window click Network and Sharing Button. Select the network and click Change Network settings. Usually you need to change it from a Public Network to a Private Network. As far as Workgroup goes I have no clue what to do on the Mac side. But there should be an option to require passwords that you can disable.

Of course if you get a dialog asking if you want to turn on Printer and Files Sharing click Yes.
Please try that much and see if there's any change. You may want to make a Restore Point first before changing W8 settings. That way if you lose ground you can get back where you were and try something else.
