I have an:
Asus VivoBook S550CM-CJ038H (india)
INTEL CORE i5-3317U CPU@ 1.70GHz
Ram: 4.00GB
Windows 8.1 65Bit OS
Touch Laptop
WIFI- INTEL CENTRINO WIRELESS-N 2230

I have been facing the problem of wifi signal fluctuations since months, after showing to Asus Care, they formatted and updated my system and drivers and said its not a hardware issue, then even the problem persisted and wifi doesn't work at all now, and there is a problem with Bluetooth top, it never connects to mobile phones. After regular pestering and insisting they accepted that it was a wifi card- hardware problem, and they suggested for its replacement. Then cause of their carelessness the warranty was ended and I couldn't get the replacement done. So I preferred to buy a better wifi+Bluetooth card of Intel. But I am not sure which one to buy, cause they may not be compatible with my laptop. So please suggest me the best of wifi card of Intel. That would be very helpful.

Welcome to the forum! The best advice I can offer is search for a half-mini card that also has bluetooth. Make sure it specifically says it works with Asus laptop. I don't know about where you are located but Ebay here has lots of them at very low price and used is just as good as new when it comes to these.

I have an Atheros dual-band card with bluetooth installed on my Acer and it is working great. Be sure any card you think about getting has up-to-date 8.1 drivers, as in the last 6 months or so.

And yes, that N 2230 card seems to have lots of problems with 8/8.1.

The problem is that some laptops are missing the pin for the mini-card, that is for Bluetooth. There are USB adapters out there, that do have Bluetooth. This is the one that we had to get for my son, due to his laptop antennas for the mini-card, cannot pick up the signal in his dorm too well.
