Windows 8.1 won't connect to WPA2-Personal AES WiFi

I've got an Asus VivoTab 810c with a Broadcom 802.11bgn Wireless SDIO adapter. I'm able to connect to my home wifi which is WPA-personal TKIP, however I can't get on my work wifi which is WPA2-Personal AES. I've tried loading older drivers, which crashed Windows 8.1. I also ran across a page that said my employer needed to update their router firmware:
Windows 8 may not be able to connect to some Cisco routers
Firstly, I'm not certain our router is Cisco, and secondly, if it is, my employer is unlikely to perform the update as we're a struggling inner city school system.
When connecting to my work network, initially the tablet says it's trying to connect, then it prompts me, asking me if I want to search for network resources. Whether I search for the resources or not, it comes back after this prompt and saying it can't connect.

My Windows 7 laptop, and my 26 Android tablets work perfectly. Only the Windows 8.1 machine won't connect.

I like the the functionality of Windows 8.1 and would like to be able to use this tablet in class. It is vastly superior to Android in every way except for connectivity. Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?

You need to use the drivers that Asus has for that tablet. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel. It does help to know the manufacturer & model of router you are using, that is giving you problems connecting.

If it is work wifi, TKIP may be the only way to connect. Just let the tablet find the A/P and connect to it after you enter the Passphrase. Most likely they are using a Wireless-G wifi hotspot setup. They are only going to get WPA/WPA2(tkip) out of it.

Thank you for your reply, I'm using the asus drivers. I cannot change the router settings. I have to use wpa2 personal aes. My windows 8.1 tablet connects correctly at home to wpa personal, tkip. It will not connect at work to wpa2 personal aes.

You do not have to use WPA2(aes). The wifi A/P will decide which one to use, once you connect to it. It tells the adapter driver and the OS which scheme to use when connected. All you have to do, is find the SSID, enter the passphrase and that is it.

If it is a domain, then your tablet should really be running a Pro version of Windows, to make things easier when connecting.

Personally I think that the person running the network and those staff that are there to help other staff members. Need to sit down and everyone get on the same page.

I have the ssid and pass phrase. Are you suggesting I can connect as wpa2-personal tkip rather than the aes Windows 8 automatically sets up?

You cannot change how the A/P is setup for Wireless Security. Same thing for the A/P Passphrase & SSID. All you need to do is again, find the A/P, enter the proper Passphrase/key and connect. If it is set up for WPA(tkip) or WPA2(tkip). That can be due to it may be an older Wireless-G A/P, so that they can get more range.
