Fix "Could not reconnect all network drives" error at boot

Anyone successfully fixed the Could not reconnect all network drives error at boot? I get it most of the time with a wired Ethernet connection. I've done a lot of searching and tried different things but nothing seems to work. This started a few months ago, was not there initially with Windows 8, 8.1 or 8.1.1.

With XP, you could do this to fix it:

Control Panel
Folder Options
View
Uncheck "Automatically search for network folders and printers"

This is no longer an option in Windows 8 (I think it disappeared with Vista).

I never found a fix. When mapping a network drive in Explorer I uncheck the automatically reconnect option.
I had several .cmd files with net use statments to connect what I wanted once I got to the desktop.

I don't map them directly. They are accessed via UNC names fro syncing files between two computers.

Not a big deal, just annoying.
I could setup a batch file to run at shutdown to drop them as they are always Y: or Z:, if I get annoyed enough.
