Hubby's Win 7 can speedtest.net at 17Mbps while at the same time my Win 8 Home Prem can't get above 5 no matter what...seems like it hits a wall. I've done the add of nonBestEffortLimit key, no help...help!

Thanks

Hil

Hi Hmeader,

What type of router, modem/router are you connected to? Is this a wired or wireless connection issue? Is your hubby connected on a wired connection?

You've mentioned this: "same network 2.4Ghz" Assuming that it's a wireless issue, have you tried a wired connection?

What type of wireless adapter are you using? Is it a dual band? What type of network security do you have - WPA2, WPA, etc...? You may try changing this from the router setting.

Sorry for the questions and some additional info needed, we need these to better assist you. :geek:

Models of computer are almost the same, about 8 months apart Gateways....not the router, both laptops are using the SAME connection...We've tried it wired and wireless...NOT the network setup, it's something between Win 7 and win 8 Home Premium...

Anyone heard of anything like this with Win 8.1 Home Premium?

If you're connected to a hotspot or domain network, contact the network administrator. Otherwise: 1. Unplug or turn off the device. 2. After all the lights on the device are off, wait at least 10 seconds. 3. Turn the device back on or plug it back into the power outlet. To restart a router or access point that has a built-in battery, press and quickly release the Reset button.
