Re-loaded Prim Homegroup computer, now can't create new HG

So, I reloaded windows on my primary computer a few weeks back, and now, I am unable to recreate a homegroup in my given network. All machines have left the old homegroup, but the option to create a new one does not exist. Instead, on each machine left on the network, the only option avail for HG is to join the homegroup created by the computer that was reloaded. The problem is, I no longer have access to that installation of windows, and the password that I thought I set on the homegroup is no longer working. Any advice on how I can get this all working again?

Open the Services and double check if you have 2 services running and set to Automatic:
    1. HomeGroupLister
    2. HomeGroup Provider

    Hey musiclover,

You might be able to remove the now no longer available computer from the homegroup on each PC using OPTION ONE below.

Both services are running and are set to automatic yes..

Neither machine is currently a part of the old home group. No machine should be a part of the old home group, as that machine was wiped clean and reloaded. My problem is that I cannot start a new homegroup. When I go into homegroup settings, the only option is to join the homegroup that should no longer exist. There is no option to create a new homegroup.

You might want to look at this link: Homegroup - Leave in Windows 8

Personally, I don't use HomeGroup (only supports Windows 7 & 8) for my home networking, I use the regular networking instead. If you wish to use this alternative, here's the link:

I have been using the workgroup method and have been able to share files between computers, though it is not seemless. Still, at the moment, I am unable to share my printers. The option to share printer does not show up when I right click on them in device list and go to properties. Others should take note, that if you plan on re-loading windows on your primary computer, make sure you leave the homegroup on all computers first, and maybe even go as far as setting up homegroup on secondary first while the primary is still around. Pretty strange.

    musiclover,

In addition, check the yellow Tip box at the top of the same tutorial below to see if it may be able to help remove the old PC from the other PCs.

Thanks Brink, but unfortunately, that did not help either.

My problem isn't that I cannot leave the homegroup. Both machines in my network have left the homegroup. The problem is, that I cannot start a new homegroup, as the old one is still detected somehow. My only option from either machine, is to join the currently existing homegroup, and I cannot recall the password on the homegroup, in order to do that. All I want to do is start a new homegroup.

Just to make sure, did you do this on each PC, and restart each PC?

    1) Delete all files in the hidden C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking folder on each PC.

    2) Restart each PC.
