    router not passing port scan after opening port

    so i opened my port 25565 (or so i thought) went to test to see if its open on multiple sites and....all of them say its closed.

    Start the application you opened the port for and then test the port, it should report it as opened.

    still timmed out, i can connect to the server im trying to run via localhost but not via external ip's

    i also added an exception in windows firewall for inbound tcp and udp on the port to be sure and got the same results.

    Try to set Local port: All Ports for both TCP and UDP

    Hi there
    That application has to send back data and it could be your ISP is blocking the INBOUND reply. Try using another port checking service.

    Incidentally some ISP's block port 80 (done to stop people from creating open public server systems from domestic computers) so you'll probably need to allow 8080 instead (or as well).

    There's no problem in allowing REMOTE access to a home machine - but what ISP's usually want to stop is people running full busy PUBLIC SERVERS with a lot of queries on a home computer. With today's broadband speeds it's quite feasible now in a lot of cases !!).

    that screenshot just shows port 80 because it resets once you refresh the page, the port im trying to use is 25565. i am trying to run a public server but not a large one, just a small one for a few friends.
