Wi-fi disconnects shortly after waking up

Recently during the past month or so, my system has developed a problem where the wi-fi works initially for about a minute or so after waking up from sleep, and then abruptly disconnects. Fortunately, reconnecting manually is never a problem, but does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on here?

check your power settings for the adapter in the device manager. see if power off when idle or power off this device is on.
I forget which offhand it is.

If all your power settings are configured to not let the wifi sleep/power off then experiment with different drivers even older ones that are compatible. It is what I had to do, not the latest driver, just one that works.
