Ethernet cable plugged in, Windows says not

    Hello everyone!

So I've had this problem before and I went to a PC-Shop that fixed it by putting another driver on the PC.
But now I have a new PC and after 6 months without any problems Windows suddenly decides there is no ethernet cable plugged in the PC. I've googled for hours and hours trying diffrent things, but nothing seems to work . The cable itself is fine because when I plug it into my laptop it works fine. I've updated my driver, deleted it and try to reinstall, which also failed. I tried out some commands through CMD, which also failed. And now I'm at the point where I have no clue what to do, so I hope you guys can help me with it!
It is a custom-build PC with a Asus Z87-A motherboard (in-case that's necessary to know) and the driver that's installed is Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. OS: Windows 8.1. If there is anything more you need to know feel free to ask!

Please help me! Thanks in advance!

Wrong driver most likely installed. Go to the Asus website and download the correct driver for your motherboard, for the Ethernet chipset.

broe23, the Asus website tells me to download the exact same driver, so that wont work sadly.

You mentioned that you have tried re-installing the drivers but just to make sure you have the latest drivers...
If you go to Motherboards - Z87-A - ASUS

Select your OS (i.e. Windows 8.1 32 bit or 64 bit) and you will be able to download/install the latest Realtek drivers.
    See how that goes.

    Regards,
    Jamie

EDIT : Sorry, you replied as i wrote this message.

I wasn't sure if I used the same site so I tried with the link you gave me and rebooted, yet no succes.
    Thanks for the effort though!

EDIT: I tried another download and it gives me the error FindFile failed. Don't know what it means but it says my driver is up to date in Device Manager, tought I would mention it

    1. Computer Management
If you look in computer management, does the network look like it's installed ok or does it have a yellow exclamation mark against it?

Right click This PC >> Select Manage >> Click on Device Manager in the left hand pane >> expand Network Adapters

What can you see there? post a screenshot - Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Eight Forums

    2. Network and Sharing Center
Does your Ethernet connection look ok in the Network and Sharing Center?
Right click your network icon in the lower right >> Select Open Network and Sharing Center >> click Change adapter settings in the left hand pane.

I can see you are currently connected via wireless but when you took those screenshots did you have an Ethernet cable plugged in?
