So, I'm trying to use the method shown at How to Turn Your Windows 8 Laptop into a Wireless Access Point

I get the same results he shows in the screenshots and it shows up as running. Problem is when I try to connect to it from another device it gets stuck on "Authorizing..." and gets stuck in a loop trying to connect.

If I retype "netsh wlan show hostednetwork" while its trying to connect it shows my device.

EDIT: Oh also I think its worth noting that I'm trying to share my WiFi connection. I'm not using Ethernet at all.

So WiFi connection > wifi hotspot is what I'm trying to do.

Hello,

Try a refresh turning off the wifi on the device then back on, can sometimes hang.

I've tried that too and I also didn't always got the command line correctly the first time.

Now I use Virtual Router Plus and it gets the job done faster.

When something during connection fails, try again.

That website drives my antivirus and malwarebytes nuts....

Also I couldn't get it to show again but when I first tried downloading chrome said it was attempting to download multiple files...

Be careful with that site.

Nevermind got it to work. The tutorial's backwards.

First you have to start the hostednetwork. Then go into adapter settings. And then an option appears to select which network you want to share with. Which you can then select the new virtual network.

Yes you want to share the wireless connection but Ethernet was there for some reason which I mentioned that earlier, of course when there is only two networks to choose from that makes it easier, glad it's working now.

Thanks for mentioning this! I didn't see any blocked items yet.

They seem to have provided a zip in there past but you're right, now they give a downloader of the installer instead. I don't like it either.

Just in case, the needed prog files are in attached zip below. It should work fine.

Anyway, I'm glad you got the tutorial working.

Regards,
Hopachi
