Multiple Local Area Connections created at boot

Chev - do you mean disable the Realtek PCIe Family Controller? If so, I've disabled it & the ipconfig/all results are shown below.
Do you have Open VPN installed on this system or something called trust connect?

If one of those is installed then it's required to uninstall it because this version doesn't appear to be working with Windows 8.

After that you may need to go into Device Manager to remove all of the extra TAP-Win32 adaptors that something installed, not sure what.

I don't have either open VPN or Trust Connect installed on the laptop. I've just uninstalled Comodo but still having the same issues

Well something installed on this system has created another network with it's own IP and it's also creating those TAP 32 adaptors.

Use the guide in the link to remove Comodo completely though I'm not completely sure that is causing all these issues.

You might try removing all those TAP 32 adaptors from Device Manager.

Try uninstalling all of the Tapi connections. Something else is attached to them. Post the URL that Speccy gives you, after running it for inspection.

I've now completely removed Comodo (& the debris left over, eg registry entries etc) and have uninstalled the TAP connections from Device Manager. I then ran Speccy & the results are attached.

Following that, I have re-booted the laptop several times and it seems that the virtual network adapters are no longer being created

I will keep a close check on it for the next few hours & come back and mark it is 'problem solved' if the issue doesn't re-occur. Thank you so much for all your help so far, it's much appreciated.

Yes the uninstall tool for Comodo is required for complete removal. And I figured that lame TAP adaptors might require some manual removal. Is there an echo in this room?

Typical strange problem caused by an anti virus which is the opposite of what they were supposed to do.

Please mark this thread as solved

Your .txt file is not correct. Attach the URL that Speccy gives you, after running it.
