Windows 8 limited connection issue

I just traveled to a place where there is supposed to be wifi and I am staying here for a while. The wifi connects well through Ipod, but when connecting through windows 8 it accepts the password but tells me this connection is limited.

I searched through some threads and did some of the solutions such as the netsh reset for example but none have worked so far

Any idea what to do?
Are there more details I could provide that could help?

Thanks alot

Should I do a factory reset to my laptop?

What are you talking about? Hotels/Airports/Coffee Shops and so on? Do you get to put in the password they gave you?

When I get limited connection when I'm travelling it is invariably the fault of the hotel. If you have limited connection then you are linked to their router (I think). If you can't see the internet it is not your fault but if you ask them to reboot the router it often helps.

A cheaper way though often is to buy a local SIM and put it in your laptop (or buy a dongle thing if you need to). You can then generally use that to create your own hotspot.

I don't have an iPod (iPad perhaps) so I can not comment on that...

No - I very much doubt that is the problem but a few more details would help :)

First thank for the reply. Yes it is a hotel. They gave me the password and it is accepted but limited.
I will ask them to reset the router and see if this is going to help

Apparently it had to do with IP Address assignment. I had to assign the IP Address from the ipod to the laptop

You should not have to. You need to get the IT person's or company phone number that manages the hotel's Wifi hotspot.

Whoever at the hotel you talked to. Should have their telephone number for you to contact them. Something is messed up with the system.
