HP Split X2 Default Gateway Unavailable on ATT Uverse Wifi

I know there have been a lot of threads on how to fix this "Default gateway unavailable problem" on the internet however none have been specific to my computer or network and regrettably I am not tech savy enough to decipher and apply the other solutions to my computer. If anyone could help that would be great. I have a HP split X2 running windows 8.1. I have ATT Uverse internet. The wifi works on my phone as well as 5 other devices and computers in the house. Ive unchecked the box that says allow to turn off to save power. What's weird is that it only has this problem late at night. Any thoughts?

It should connect just like any other device. It is just make sure you are up to date, find the SSID and enter the passphrase, which both are on the label on the Gateway.

As long as you have not gone in and hidden the passphrase, or using some third party Internet Security software. You should not be having any problems.

It connects but it loses connection after about 5 minutes. Where do I go to find the SSID and do all that?

The SSID is what is set in the Gateway. It will be on the label. If it is a 2Wire device. It should start with 2Wire and last 3 digits of the serial number on the gateway.

As for loosing connection after five minutes. That sounds like a distance or poor placement of the gateway issue. Go to HP's website and download their driver for your Ralink wifi card. There has been too many issues with the Microsoft network drivers.
