About every 10 minutos this occurs and I lose internet connection. When I troubleshoot it displays default gateway not available and it is fixed. Then about 10-15 minutes later it loses connection again. I tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew and nothing. I also uninstalled drivers and installed new ones and nothing?
Is this through wireless or wired? What is the manufacturer & model of the computer, along with the Gateway? If wireless. How far away are you from the gateway?
That is going to not do much. Need more information than just the motherboard. If you are losing the ethernet connection. Either the Gateway is failing, or your Ethernet card or chipset is failing. The other possibility is a bad Ethernet connection between computer and gateway. Or bad connection or bad wiring between the gateway and your ISP.
When it happens I simply disconnect the ethernet port from the router and plug in right away and it works for another 10-15 minutes. Should I replace my router?
Wifi works perfectly on my phone and other computers. Could the issue be my ethernet port?
I would try a different ethernet cable. Depending how far the gateway is from the computer. That is where sometimes you have an issue. Especially if the computer is say 50' away from the gateway. I would get the Ideal Ethernet Loopback tester. Even though you may only use it a few times. It is still worth the money.
Without going out and getting one. I would have never known that I had problems with a bunch of Cat-5e in my house. Same with some cables. After I figured out which lines were bad. I was then able to upgrade to 1000mb/s.
In your case. If the gateway is where the computer is. Try a brand new cable out of the bag. Ace Hardware, Lowe's all sell Cat-5e cables.
With the new cable. The computer still drops. Then it may be an ethernet NIC problem. What is the model of the gateway you are using? What chipset does your motherboard use?
