"Ethernet" doesnt have a valid IP / gateway not available

Recently I have been intermittently getting disconnected from the internet while gaming / streaming. If I ran the troubleshooter, the error that I got was "Default gateway not available". Resetting my router/modem and restarting the PC every time it happened seemed to resolve this for a while. This problem became more and more frequent, and is now accompanied by another error saying that "Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP configuration. This is much more frequent now, every 10-20 minutes or so. I am on wired internet coming from the combo router/modem from my ISP/Cable co.

Attached is my ipconfig /all while working and after the error.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

This problem is usually related to one of four items. Failing router, bad ethernet cord, failing wireless card, bad drivers. As for the IPConfig. It does nothing to show what is actually happening. All it is going to show is if your connection was able to communicate with the router/gateway/access point and get the proper DNS IP, and get a proper lease for the IP the MAC is assigned.

The last would be distance between the device and gateway. Other would be congestion if you are trying to use wifi.

Check the ipv4 properties of the machines network card, in the power management tab, uncheck the box that says 'Allow the pc to turn off this device to save energy.

The ipv4 address that is shown in your ipconfig when it is failing is indicative of not receiving a valid IP address via DHCP.
You can read more about that condition here IP Address - Enable Alternate Configuration

You could try the Alternate Configuration suggested in this tut, but I would replace the modem/router if it was me. My knowledge in this area is somewhat limited, could be there is some other cause of the DHCP failure.

I am having the same issues. I have made sure the "Allow computer to turn off..." is not checked. So far I've only been disconnected once since making that change. I am on my THIRD WiFi router because I thought this may be the issue, but have had this issue with all 3. Grrrrr. This is so frustrating. I've read many threads on here but most are too technical for me to under stand. I will post again if the one thing I have done works. (unchecked the check box)
