Hi,

I would like to ask if there is now an update resolving the network printers becoming offline.
I cannot remove-add the same printers again and again specially for the people i support in our office.

Thanks

Windows 8.1 Network Printers Problem

Hi,

Any news if Microsoft already have a fix on Network printers who are being forgotten by the PC whenever logged out of the network?

My workaround for this problem is to remove the stored printer and add it again which should not be the case if you do this so many times a week.

Hi Chev65,

We are using Canon MP230 and MP280. Both are network computers and has a static IP. My workaround is,
I manually delete and add the printers at devices and printers setup then install the driver after.

The router is the main culprit in this problem. What is the manufacturer & model of the router/gateway you are using? Also if you just leave the printers on all of the time and let them go into sleep mode. The router can give up that lease if it does not see the printer for a while.

Make sure you have correct info set in the printer for the Gateway IP, DNS IP if it is not the router, and that the router also has this static IP set as reserved in its settings.
