Connecting, then suddenly no networks found

Not sure what is going on exactly, But I'll explain my situation. For some reason I can connect fine when I plug in my wireless receiver port into it, But 30 seconds after I plug it in, the bars disappear And a red X appears over it, if you click on it it'll say no networks found.... The only way to fix it is to plug it in and after 30 seconds it happens again... it is really quite frustrating, And makes doing anything on the internet pretty much impossible. I'm only getting this on my computer, And it's gotten really bad recently, I've tried replacing the reciever, But that fixed it for maybe an hour.... Please I'm desperate for help.

Really confused as to where the blame lies. Why are you plugging in the Wifi device, after booting up the computer? Also where is the Red X showing up? Is it showing up on the Task Bar, or in the Device Manager?

Where are you trying to use your computer? At home, or on a Public Hot Spot?

Sorry for not being clear, I plug in the Wi-Fi reciever device before it goes on (although I've tried it after too). The little x shows up where the # of bars that show your internet strength. I am using this on my personal home computer.

Still confused. Can you post a screen shot of this supposed red X. Sounds to me that it is a software issue, for the software that you loaded that you do not need, for that USB device.

That would be your network adapter failing. One of the peculiarities of connections, if you use a router. You can be shown as having a connection, but this may be to the router only, and not forward on to the internet.
But your posts are still not clear. Are you only using a wireless connection, or do you also have your Ethernet adapter in use, and enabled.
I am not sure if it is applicable to you particular problem, but Windows have had many feedbacks on the subject, at least since Windows 7. On the computers that I have dealt with, I decided the problem lay with the adpter driver that defaulted, for the
"Family Controller". Maybe I got lucky, but in nearly every case I solved the problem by uninstall (not disabling) the adapter and reinstalling an original driver from the computer manufacturers site.
