Vaio Tap 11 with Win 8.1 x64 loses Wi-Fi constantly

My wi-fi keeps disappearing, it says "no connections available" and even the wi-fi adapter in network/sharing center is not present, only bluetooth is there. When I restart it comes back.
I have a new Vaio Tap 11 tablet which came with regular Win8, I updated it to 8.1, got all the updates after that and updated every driver in vaio update utility, I did nothing else.

Hi libastral,

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with your issue but there is a prerequisite BIOS update that (Sony says) must be applied before attempting any update to Windows 8.1. I did not see where you specifically mentioned you updated your BIOS before migrating to Windows 8.1.

Good luck,

With the wifi disappearing that is typically a sign that there are system file integrity problems which is standard issue when you update a system that already has system file problems.

Try running the system file integrity scan's as outlined in the following link and let me know if the scan's completely successfully or not. :)

Open up a command window, enter without the quotes "netsh wlan show all". Post the results from that in here, to show all A/P's around you, what channel they are on, point out which one is your A/P, that you connect to. Post the mfg & model of the gateway or router that you are using, that has the wifi built in.

Also make sure that you are using either Sony's Wifi driver, or the chipset mfg. driver. Windows 8.x has been loading a lot of wonky drivers lately. Also certain Gateways are causing issues with poor wifi, even though you could be sitting at the desk with the gateway right in front of you.

I am using a Engenius ECB350 A/P, never have had any issues with it, unless I take it from Auto, to 29dbm. Then it just murders the signal, due to too much power output. I have also used the Trendnet TEW-690ap, which worked really well inside the house. Once you got outside to say 25 feet from it, you started to lose the signal, due to the house has Aluminum siding on it.
