So iwas wondering if there is a way to check the signal strengh of your wifi by percentage.

inSSIDer. You can get the 3.x edition for free still at MetaGeek Software Archives | MetaGeek For $19 for the 4.x version is well worth it. You are supporting the writer to keep writing a good software package.

Now of course the one command a lot of people tend to not use in the Windows Command window is "netsh wlan show all" (do not use the quotes, just the whole command as written). It will not only show you your A/P & Channel it is on, but any that your WiFi card picks up.

It depends - you want to know the signal to noise ratio not just the strength of the of the signal which may be affected by your phone, microwave oven or whatever. Whether you can get this depends on your wifi card. You could look into Kismet as well as inSSIDer also if your card is compatible.
