    Solved: Win 8.1 Pro Remote Desk doesn't connect Homegroup


    If your Windows 8.1 Pro Remote desktop connection cannot find your Homegroup member's desktop, even though all your homegroup settings for remote desk are correct for both host and client, and you can even share files on your Homegroup network, then try this. It works:

    1. Go to Control Panel, Windows Firewall, Advanced Settings.
    2. Select and click on Outbound Rules.
    3. At right hand panel, click on Add a New Rule...
    4. At the General tab, Name it TCP 3389 Outbound and check Enabled, and Allow the connection.
    5. If it doesn't let you allow, go to Remote Users.
    6. Clear both check boxes "Only Allow.." and "Skip..."
    7. Then open General tab and put a dot in Allow the connection and be sure the Enabled box is checked.
    8. Go to Protocols and Ports tab, choose Protocol type TCP. Leave Local port and Remote port as All.

    To be on the safe side, repeat the above steps for Inbound Rules as well, but name it TCP 3389 inbound.
