It is a driver issue. Windows/Microsoft update has been pulling the Microsoft driver updates, if users are not paying attention when they start updating. In turn you get the problem of bad speeds, or drops.

I had no problems using the chipset manufacturer drivers for my Intel 7260 wifi card. Rock solid performance.

Give these a shot and report back: Atheros QCA9565 WiFi Driver - download tag

Some are not installers, you have to know how to manually install. If you don't know how, go with the larger file of 2MB+

There is a site you can download the Atheros drivers from (ATHEROS Wireless drivers for Windows). But they are not any better then the ones that come through Windows update. Better to stick with the OEM drivers that are at your computer manufacturer website. If it is due to distance or poor wireless where you use your computer. You could try and go with a USB adapter with an external antenna.
