I know the basics about computers. I do not know how to re-install a network driver, hence why I signed up on a forum requesting assistance.

    Ok good thanks for posting.

The driver looks good and the machine can see the router however, it appears that it's not picking anything up from the router.

You should first try resetting the router, you can do this through it's interface at the routers gateway IP which should be something like > http://192.168.x.x , if you don't know the gateway IP then you can try unplugging the router or reset the router using the little button on the side which is usually in a small hole.

I realize you have other clients using the router but that doesn't mean a reset of the router won't help. Routers are very strange in this respect. After resetting the router be sure and check that the wireless security settings haven't changed, if they do change then put them back to how they were and use those settings when you create the wireless profile for this connection.

If this has no effect then reset the network stack using the file below which will reset the network stack, renew the IP, flush the DNS, reset winsock and TCP/IP then reboot your machine automatically. The file is safe to run.

Go to your laptop support page, look for download drivers, download lan driver, install

I type so slow. Beaten again.

    EDIT:

I find resetting a router for somebody that has no knowledge of such things is probably a second or even 3rd approach I would take, I would in all sincerity turn the modem off for 10 seconds, turn it on, check connectivity.

I would also find reinstalling the LAN driver from the laptop support page more desirable than resetting a router. If he makes a mistake, he has no way of reporting that fact to us.

I am not trying to contradict the above post but baby steps is safer for someone learning the ropes. Just my opinion only.

just yesturday, somebody posted a complicated process to an inquiry, when all it took was a restart of the computer. Just saying that the simplest things often show the required results.

It cant hurt then to go to your laptop support page and download latest lan driver. it will be a zip file, extract and run setup. or follow the process offered above.

    PS

All that info you have posted ion your wireless/modem above. I personally wouldn't display it. But I am paranoid

How about you stick to your own diagnoses and I'll stick to my own tried and proven methods for diagnosing and fixing network problems?

If the driver wasn't working it certainly wouldn't be showing a 72% signal strength while also showing two other networks which are being picked up.

There is absolutely no relevant security information in the network details that I requested.

I have reinstalled the driver to my computer and that did not fix the issue. Is the next step to reset everything with the file provided above?
