Network sharing problems

Hello everybody

I am struggling with my windows 8.1 and the network settings for the last 2 months.
Several guides are available online and even in your forum.
However, I still can not access my shared files from my lan network.
There is always a login username/password requested in order to join but It never let me join and see the files.
If I input any random wrong login username/password it reports an error. Hence, for some reason the authentication part is successful and something else is wrong.
This is maybe a windows 8.1 problem on some restrictions etc..
Any idea how to proceed?

Actions done till now...
Change permissions - added almost everything (users, guests, user, administrator, everyone)
set workgroup to name "domain" or "WORKGROUP" or "HOME"
homegroup only works for windows7!!
Remove the password request check from the network settings

Shared files included in Windows 8.1
Trying to access the files from windows xp, windows 7, linux, android, tv media box...

I will probably add some screenshots soon..

I am desperate for help...
Thanks in advance

My ADSL router has default settings.. it is a ZTE300 where I just used the ISP username and password no other settings.
However before I reset it also tried the static ip for all devices in the lan network... this did not work thats why I reset it again!
I think that is a windows 7/8/8.1 issue because from windows xp I can share and even the login username/password for the shared folder is working perfectly.:geek:
This problem might be related with the samba sharing.. I am not sure!

You should make sure that the C: Users folder is shared out which should be enabled by default, picture shows the Users folder as shared.

Also make sure you have enabled File and Printer sharing, Network Discovery, password protected sharing off in the Advanced Sharing Settings.

You should also make sure that you did not inadvertently create a Homegroup which is very easy to do with Windows 8 or 8.1. If you did create a Homegroup then none of the Users folders would be sharable with any machine not included in the Homegroup so you would need to leave the Homegroup in this case. http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/15850-homegroup-leave-windows-8-a.html

There are several weird things in my pc...
First of all I can see the same pc 2 times in the network and I have only 1 pc and an android but with different name (weird.png)..

Then I share the following folders:
- Users folder with full permissions to Everyone, Users, Guests, Administrator, SYSTEM
- 1st external HD with full permissions to Everyone, Users, Guests, Administrator, SYSTEM
- 2nd external HD with full permissions to Everyone, Users, Guests, Administrator, SYSTEM

There are no homegroup setup and just to make sure I created one and use the leave instructions to make sure!

Any other suggestions?

All I see is two machines with the same machine name which won't work for sharing, I'm surprised the second one is even showing up.

I'm not sure what you are trying to do but I'd say you need to start by having the Windows 7 machine show up in the common workgroup along with the XP machine. All machines will need a different machine name for sharing to work.

This is from one machine! If I change it, it changes both.
