If you go through the Intel Support forums, their engineers have posted, that Windows 8.x does not play nicely with the Intel adapters. I have a 7260 Dual-Band mini-card, and I can go from having 300mbps, to 11mbps in an hour, so you just have to turn off wireless and turn it back on.

Also I have found out that the Intel Proset software and the driver for the 7260 wifi card, does not play nicely with Lenovo's EMC Link software.

Intel has always had some issues with their chipsets, but this is getting even worse with Windows 8. We cannot even load 8 on a Asus netbook, that meets all of the spec's, due to you get constant BSOD's from the Wireless Adapter and AHCI.

If you run on Windows 7, then the problems go away. I have not come across any known time frame, that Intel is going to issue a fix on the Proset software, along with the drivers for those chips that are having issues with Windows 8 not playing nicely with Intel's hardware.

I agree with the inherent Intel problems as I've seen so many of them it's insane, especially with the Z580, nothing but problems.

I'd either update to Windows 8.1 and hope for the best or back up everything and either reset or refresh the system.

Well crap haha. I can't revert to 7 (although i would LOVE to) unless I pay since it came with 8. And I actually did update to 8.1 already, then tried reverting, neither of which have worked.

Any ideas on workarounds? If I just buy a little USB wifi adapter, think that will work? At this point I'm about ready to throw the thing out the window haha. I haven't liked it from the beginning anyway, but now it's totally useless!

I didn't see any links to the Lenovo version of the driver for the problematic Intel wireless adaptor so I posted the link that is supposed to work. >>>>> WiFi Driver (Intel, cyberTan, Liteon) for Windows 8.1(32-bit, 64-bit) - IdeaPad Z380, Z480, Z580

Any decent USB wireless adaptor would work to fix the problem as well such as the one I'm using> D-Link DWA-140, plugs in drivers install automatically etc. and they are like 10 bucks on Amazon.
