In that case, yeah you'll need to change Office to save to the library.

If you mean the top Folders section in This PC in File Explorer, then those are not libraries. They are actual links to your "C:\Users\(user-name)" folders.

If you like, you could add Libraries to This PC, and/or have Libraries show in the navigation pane to make it easier to access the libraries.

Yes those are the links I mean. Can I selectively replace those links with the ones I want? Example replace the default Documents with my own E-Documents folder?

Btw I tried to change default save location of Word or Excel . But they don't work. Each time I click save , it does not auto save to E drive Documents but continues to offer a selection where to save. It behaves as it I never changed the default location at all. I am wondering whether this is due to the fact that I left the auto save location in the c drive. ie the auto save and default save folder are in different drives. Any idea ?

If you click on File and Options in Word (and others), you should have a "Save" option like below that you can change the "Default local file location" at. This is for Word 2013.

If you like, you could use the tutorial below to remove the default folders from This PC.
You could use the free program below to add any folders to This PC. You will not be able to a library, but can add Libraries like above.

That was exactly what I did .But it had no effect. I made test file then hit save and it did not save it automatically .

Are you sure you set Word to save to your Documents "library" and not the Documents folder in This PC?

Yes. I browsed to the drive and the target file . It is the correct folder.

Does it do so after the first time you save it there?

After I saved a first test file, then when I save the second test file , the only difference is that the E:\My documents shows up as a recent folder so I can click on that to save. ie word does not save it there by default. It looks like "save as" is the default function .

Odd. Do you have the Save to computer by default option checked to have it save to the "Default local file location" you specified?

    Yes . it is checked.

The same thing is happening in Excel also

The default save mode seems to be 'Save As' rather than Save.
