    LAN conection problems

HI, I tried to connect two win 8 developer preview systems via Ethernet crossover cable. I can see the shared folders from both PC but can' t access them:

" WINDOWS CANNOT ACCESS \\PC\SHARED FOLDER
You don' t have permissions to access \\PC\shared folder. Contact your network administrator to request access."

    My configuration:

    PC 1
    192.168.1.2
    255.255.255.0

    PC 2
    192.168.1.1
    255.255.255.0

    1. Windows firewall is OFF (no other anti-virus or personal firewall)

    2. both PC have WORKGROUP

    3. advanced sharing settings:
    - turn on sharing so anyone with....
    - turn off password protected sharing

    4. home group
    - pictures, video, documents etc. is set to "shared"

    5. shared folder permissions is set to full control for everyone

    Hope this helps!

    1. Open the folder you want to share.

    2. Click the share tab (pic 1)

    3. Select "Homegroup (view and read)" or "Homegroup (View only)" depending on wich one you prefer. (pic 1)

Well slow connection can be caused by several things.

Eg. Bad cable, bad signal, bad router on LAN file transferring.

    1. Solution for bad cabe: Try to upgrade your ethernet cable to those brand new CAT6 cables.
    2. Solution for bad signal: Try to get closer to the acces point or use wired connection
    3. Solution for bad router: Maybe your router isn't Port forwarded correctly? or maybe it isn't made for transferring files trough LAN.

The LAN file sharing is made just for a (eg. a family) whose members want to store their pictures, music, files and videos to a one locations easily. Not for sharing the whole computer. If you ewant to dig out something from program files or a folder that requires Administrator rights you have to use Remote Control.
