Connecting to router, but I get "unidentified network"

Hi, I've been dealing with this for 2 days and I hope someone can help me out! This problem started very suddenly (Wifi worked, walked away for 10 minutes, then found that it didn't). I would normally just reset the router, but I live in an apartment building and the router is in my landlords office. I am unsure if anyone else is experiencing issues, however, my laptop connects to wifi at my workplace and on my school's campus.

When I did ipconfig /all, my ip started with 169, which I know isn't normal. But when I try to do a /release and /renew, I get the error "No operation can be performed on local area connection *14 while it has it's media disconnected." I am unable to attempt a wired connection, as the router is not accessible to me.

Can anyone help me out? I'm at a loss...I'm not sure if this is a router issue, or an issue with my laptop (less than a year old.) I am a grad student and I currently have to do most of my work via my iphone, which is getting very inconvenient.

The first thing I would do is get your landlord to reset the router if possible and see if that solves the issue , with these things the connecting hardware is always the first thing I always check.

169 is an automatic fallback when your PC can't connect to the DHCP server.

Thanks! I put in a request today, but I don't think they did it - I'll be checking in with them tomorrow and will post if I'm still having problems.

Check with neighbors to see if they have same problem, if true, it's AP fault for sure.
