Hello Guys,

I can add and use files from a laptop I have on windows 7. However on my desktop running windows 8, I cannot add files to the hard drives attached to my network.

I currently have the Western Digital N700 router, with 1 3 tb backup drive attached.

I can get videos from it or other files, however I cannot add. When I go to drag and drop I am getting the circle with a / through it.

IF you need any more info let me know, it is a pain to have to use a different computer to upload files.

Thanks

Have you tried using copy/paste instead of drag and drop?

If it's a security problem then adding Everyone with read/write permissions to the permission list on the Security tab may help.

It will not let me copy paste, I will try the security. I assume that's in the router IP address?

Thanks

Security meaning the security on the actual drive. I'm not sure how it's formatted but there are usually some settings you can adjust.

Thanks, It is a Seagate, any idea how I would change the settings? Because it is just pluged directly in straight out of the box. I don't know where I would find any settings to change.

Thanks,

If it's formatted NTFS then you should be able to access the settings by right click and going into properties.

You might try updating the firmware on this router. WD Support / Downloads / Select Product
