Do your status led display that your cable is attached? (located on your Network interface card)

You definitely had some major system problems with the DISM scan and sfc.

Ok try shutting down completely and remove all power if possible, unplug the battery, then bleed the remaining power by pushing the start button, reboot and see if it picks up the cable.

There could also be a problem with this new router which should be working at GB speeds, there should be no need to reduce the router to slower speeds. What is the make model of this new router?

@chev65 I've done the reboot and it still won't detect the cable. The new router is a belkin DB N600 F9J1102v1.

@tomerello It doesn't seem that this laptop has a led indicator for the ethernet.

Are there any other machines connected to this router?

Is there a modem that the router is connecting to? Internet port plugged into WAN or internet port, not the LAN port etc.

There are others connected but only via Wireless, and my router has a modem built in so no.

the tiny LED would be right by the socket the cable plugs into on your laptop , if it doesn't light up and/or flash when you plug a cable in then the network socket on the laptop isn't active.

Which router has a modem built into it?

If you using a combo modem/router then you will need to turn off DHCP on the secondary router.

The Belkin DB N600 is a regular router from what I can tell.

Ok combo router/modem,. Only router in the system?

You say you passed the DISM repair command,...finally, but did you pass the sfc /scannow command?

After you complete both scans successfully run the file below which will reset the network stack, flush the DNS, reset winsock etc. then your machine will reboot automatically.
