Hi,

After a while when i'm browsing the web etc, my wireless connection goes to Limited and there are no other wireless networks available (when there should be 10+ networks).

When i disconnect that limited connection, there are suddenly no networks found and my wireless adapter disables itself and i can't re-enable it anymore. The only thing that helps is to restart my computer.

This occures after a couple of minutes. I had this problem before, but then it fixed itself for a couple of weeks and now i have the same problem again.

I've tried reinstalling my drivers, but doesn't do the trick..

I have an Asus N76VM laptop running Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit with a Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230 adapter.

Am i the only one with this issue?

You will need to install the newer Windows 8.1 drivers for your Intel N 2230 adaptor which Intel has mysteriously hidden from it's customers.

Still didn't work :( It's just weird. My entire wireless capability shuts down. Sometimes, it doesn't restore by restarting a couple of times.. First i thought it was a power issue or hardware issue, but it al began when i installed 8.1

Really frustrating.. browsing, suddenly no connection, have to restart each time..

Does the network adaptor disappear from Device Manager as well?

Yes, it's like i never had a wireless adapter.
Even a restart wouldn't always solve the issue, full shutdown...

But the thing i don't understand... it's been a couple of hours since i rebooted my pc 10x and a couple of shutdowns (because it occured 2sec after boot etc just wouldn't recognize my adapter) and i have no problems whatsoever.. It's like a random event, sometimes a couple of days without issues, sometimes 5sec, urgh

It's hard for me to troubleshoot, because it just doesn't make sense :D

I had a similar problem that had to do with system files that were missing and some component store corruption which is typical with Windows 8 apparently.

Same symptoms but my wireless adaptor vanished completely, I just ran the system file scan rebooted and then ran the DISM repair command which fixed the problem. Start with the sfc /scannow command per the link.

I've tried it, there was 1 unsolved issue, but I can't look at the CBS.log file.. Acces denied.

But i give up, already started to backup some files and programs, i'll do a full format, clean win8 install :D

Thanks for the quick replies and usefull information ;)

I should mention that it typically takes up to three passes with a reboot between scan's in order for the sfc scan to fix problems.

Usually the DISM scan will fix the problem you are describing so I would not give up on this.

I won't get into the fact that a reinstall sometimes won't fix these types of problems because they have to do with your User profile being corrupted.

A couple of reboots and shutdowns later:

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

and

The restore operation completed successfully. The component store corruption was repaired.
The operation completed successfully.

Aparently, that unsolvable error solved itself.
I haven't been on alot lately, so can't really tell if the wifi problem is fixed, but it appears to be better than before.

Thanks chev65, already gave you a thumbs up ;)

Edit: I think it's fixed, already whent a couple of times in sleep mode, downloaded alot for high usage of the connection and everything seems to be stable :)

That sounds much better to me. :)

The report indicated that the DISM repairs took place so I'd say the problem is solved. Thanks for reporting back in.

Please mark as solved so this thread may help others with the same problem, I've already fixed quite a few machines with the same store corruption problem so there will be more.
