So I upgraded to Windows 8.1, before hand I checked my OEM for updated drivers and installed everything in which was updated for Windows 8.1. Everything works but the Wireless is hit or miss, when I first boot the computer it shows every network name in range but mine and yes I checked my other devices my wireless is fine. If I boot the computer I can't get it to work, for some reason I have to boot the computer then do a restart then I have to manually connect through the network manager by typing network name, what my security is and my security password. Then it will show my network with limited connection, then I have to disconnect from my network and reconnect to be able to finally have internet. I have even tried reinstalling the wireless drivers from the OEM and any necessary Windows 8.1 updated they made. They Vaio is only going on three years old and works fine in Windows 7 and 8 but there is something with 8.1 messing up my wireless. I have a Sony Vaio VPCEB42FM notebook, any ideas since this is starting to annoy me with how hard I must work just to get internet connection.

Edit I also had check for updates for my drivers through the hardware update tool in Windows and it is telling me all drivers are up to date.

Did you do all the required "prep work" before updating to 8.1?

If so, try these additional things:

Download latest drivers from above link
Check for BIOS Updates
Reboot router
Check for router firmware updates

Good luck.

Check under Network Adapters in Device manager for "Microsoft Kernel Debug Adapter", if it's there, uninstall it and see whether it helps.

Yes but many of these issues are fixable "if" you rig does support 8.1 and, from what I see, "it does." So, if you have checked these as well,

Check for BIOS Updates
Reboot router
Check for router firmware updates

... then you may have to wait for someone that is better with wireless issues. We have a few members that are very good in that area so don't give up hope yet!

Perhaps this link to the Intel drivers for Windows 8.1 might help.

According to Intel you need to uninstall both of the Intel 6250 drivers then install the new one. :)

Thanks, fixed the issue. I didn't think about checking Intel, figured since my OEM updated the page for upgrading to Windows 8.1 I thought if Intel would have released specific direction then my OEM would have included them. Thanks again.

And thanks to my2cents and brummyfan for your support and being first responders.

Glad you got it fixed and I see you didn't have to wait too long for one of our experts to arrive. In fact, he arrived simultaneously with my suggestion to wait a bit. @chev65: Nice job!

The problem was that Intel in it's infinite wisdom chose to place the updated drivers for Windows 8.1 on a completely different and separate site from the original Windows 8 drivers.
