    Wireless network adapter not detected

I upgraded to 8.1 and now my wireless connectivity is lost. I have installed the latest driver model for my device but still it is not working

I have a pretty good idea of what the problem might be, this is becoming a common problem with Windows 8 or 8.1, in fact I've already fixed this exact problem with the steps below.

First run the sfc /scannow command, use an elevated command prompt for this, use option 2 in the link below.
SFC /SCANNOW Command - Run in Windows 8

It's required to reboot the machine after the scan completes which can take awhile depending on the amount of file corruption. It might seem to stop for some time, just let it finish then reboot the machine.

The wireless adaptor may starting working again after this scan but the store corruption is still there.

After reboot open the elevated command prompt again and run the command > Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth it might mention that it's fixed something. Reboot again and run sfc /scannow again, it should come up clean this time.

This should fix the store corruption which caused the problem and the wireless NIC should now be working.

All I know is that I had the exact same error message with my wireless NIC and the scans are what fixed it, it happened shortly after upgrading to Windows 8.1.

Is this a problem directly after the upgrade to 8.1?

That is strange, let me know if the sfc scan shows problems, if so then following the directions I posted will most likely fix the problem.

If sfc comes up clean and because this is a fresh install you could also use the refresh or reset Windows features.

Yes check DISM, see what it says, ok it did repair something but did it say that the problems have been repaired?

What did sfc /scannow say? You may need to run either of those scans more than once rebooting between scans before they will come up clean.

It sounds like Windows update may be installing something that is hosing your wireless NIC, since it seems to work before the Windows updates. Have you tried removing or uninstalling the Windows updates for testing?

If by removing the updates the problem is fixed you can try adding them back one at a time to isolate which one might be causing the problem. Though this could take some time it would be required in order to isolate the problem. Acer really doesn't have any Windows 8 specific drivers for your Acer notebook.

    Yes DISM repaired something successfully.

I uninstalled all the windows updates and am running an sfc scannow.

If it does not work then I have no choice but to revert back to 8
