No internet after uninstalling Avast 8

    Hello,
I cannot connect to internet after uninstalling my Avast 8 (Exact version 8.0.1487). I even tried uninstalling it from their uninstallation tool in Windows 8 Safe Mode, still had the same problem. On troubleshooting, this is what I was shown
"Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP configuration. I also tried flushing DNS, etc but with no luck. However when I reinstall Avast, internet starts working again. I've searched Avast forums and tried all their recommended ways to fix the problem.

I am using a DSL connection with internet cable which goes directly to the back of my CPU and I don't have any modem device in my house.

How do I completely remove Avast 8 and get my internet back?

When you look at your hardware list , does the Network Interface Card (NIC) have any errors showing? , sometimes uninstalling avast will remove the driver for the NIC.

I had three yellow exclamation marks near all WAN drivers in my Device Manager

To solve it, I followed Henry Turong's method on this page windows 8 wan miniport issue - Microsoft Community

and now my windows 8 runs into BSOD after booting to desktop (probably when the network drivers load)..
I remember while uninstalling Avast, it took a system restore.
I booted into Ubuntu now but cannot access my windows NTFS drivers where the windows 8 iso file is stored (to make a bootable USB) as windows didn't close properly.

All in all, I ran into trouble.

I found out that I was getting BSOD whenever it tried to connect to the internet (which it automatically did with skype).
So I disabled skype at startup, bought the same WAN drivers back from "Device Manager", restarted, it again showed same yellow exclamation marks near all WAN drivers (as shown in above picture) and I couldn't connect to internet.
So I installed Avast 8 Internet Security again and my internet started working.
However all three WAN drivers disappeared from the list

The three WAN Drivers are back when I uninstall Avast. So does this mean I should try to uninstall them manually after uninstalling Avast? Would it be safe to do so? Please help.

    Hello,

Just a guess but I think all those drivers look unique and some may serve a purpose that I am not personally familiar with; however, I believe that 8.0.1487 was a Beta release and it is not uncommon for betas to hose something up. Why don'y you take a stab at this method. OK, Avast has just released a new stable version (8.0.1497) that works on both Win 8 and 8.1; however, there is only a minor reporting glitch that remains. See my post here for details and download instructions. Don't give up on Avast yet. This might fix it for you. Good luck.

PDANet is a way of linking a phone to use as a data connection to your PC and VirtualBox adapter is used for Virtualbox software....do you actually use these on your PC?

Just trying to see why you have those listed in there.

Yes, I actually use them both. I used to reverse tether and that's the reason why I have PDANet (maybe also because of mobile drivers).

    YOU SAVED ME!!
I downloaded the latest version of Avast from the link you provided then uninstalled it normally from the control panel and my internet now works without Avast
    Thanks a lot.
