Folders on "Server" show as empty, when they are not.

    Hello,
My main machine is running Windows 8 Pro, my server is running Windows 7 Pro.
The server holds all of my media files as well as a folder backing up the Docs & Pics folders of the other machines in the house.
I can access all of the folders on the server from the Win8 machine but when I get to the folder I am looking for all I see is the Folder is empty message.

Here is what I have done so far:
Virus scan on both machines - all is good
Turned on & off the sharing on the server
Given full permission to everybody, homegroup & administrators on all folders.
Restarted both machines and the router
Unplugged & plugged back in the USB drives on the server

Any thoughts? Please and thank you.

Is this folder located in a Library?

Have you checked in the Public folders which are part of each Library folder by default, files can accidently end up in the Public folders so if you checked Documents Library folder, check the attached public folder.

Thanks for your suggestion, the folders are linked to the videos library and the files don't show when being viewed via the library or when just navigating the network.

When you say you gave full permissions on all folders, this isn't really required. The folder that matters is the C:>Users folder, if that one isn't shared then no folders further down in the hierarchy will be sharable.

It's nearly impossible to suggest what permissions to change when I can't see what has already been done.

Thanks again for your support, the folders I am having problems with are on external usb drives and do not fall under the C:\users directory structure. I can drill down the directory tree and see the files in one folder but do not see the files in the next. Thanks for your patience I am trying more trouble shooting tonight by killing all of the shares tonight and using mapping of network drives instead.
