There are many drivers listed on the Dell downloads for the Alienware 17 model, for Win 8. Did you install all the Dell supplied drivers including all the chipset drivers and network drivers? If not, that is the first step. Win 8 will install some drivers but not all will be compatible or 100% compatible. Installing the correct Dell drivers is best. Dell also has a special Alienware support section on their Community forums. If installing the Dell drivers does not help, it would be best to seek help there, since its specific for Alienware owners. Alienware Club - Dell Community

You are connected to the net, with another PC. Download them to that PC and either burn them to a disc or to a flash drive and take that to the other PC and install from the disc or flash drive.

You will need, AT A MINIMUM, the chipset drivers (there are several listed) which should be installed first, the video driver, Dell sound driver and the network/Ethernet drivers.

On an install, the sequence is (1) Install Windows (2) Install Dell Laptop or Desktop (as applicable) System Software, Motherboard Chipset drivers, Device drivers including Video, Dell Sound, Ethernet, wireless.
