Wireless Problems

Hi guys, I'm new here so sorry if I'm a total noob.

A few days ago, my laptop (Dell Inspiron 15 3520) stopped connecting to wireless. Everything else in my house works except this. I'm currently using a usb wireless adapter, but my laptop won't connect unless I'm using it. Without it, it either says it's cannot connect to the network or it connects and is limited.

I've googled and googled and although it seems as if many people have had the same problem, none of the suggestions have worked for me. I'm really hoping someone here can help me!

I've read around on this problem with your Dell Inspiron 15 3520 and apparently this problem is fairly common with the only real solution being to disable the Blue Tooth interface in Device Manager or you can disable it at the Network and Sharing Center>change adaptor settings , this is supposed to fix the problem with the wireless disconnecting or showing up as a limited connection.

It may also help to update your system at the Windows Update Center using a wired connection. :)

Thanks for your reply. I disabled the bluetooth but still no good >:

I would try updating all the drivers for your system, there are many Windows 8 specific drivers.

It does seem strange that this wireless driver was once working and then suddenly stopped, this may be cause of the anti virus software or some other reason like a hardware problem, if you can post a screen shot of the ipconfig/all it would be helpful.

I'm curious as to the wireless settings that the router is set up to use.

Using WPA-2 security with AES encryption should work best, it may also help to use the 802.11N Only wireless mode as opposed to the mixed settings a,b,g etc.

You might also try going into the Device Manager and disable both the blue tooth adaptor and the Kernel debug adaptor as well, I believe a restart is required for this.

Not sure what this part means.. o_O

Also for the bluetooth adapter, am I disabling the 'bluetooth device'? If so, there are 2: personal area network and RFCOMM protocol TDI.

The router settings page will be located at 192.168.1.1, this is where you can check on the wireless settings which are very important. :)

What do I do after checking the wireless settings? I can't seem to remember my username and pw :3 but I'll get back to you when I am able to check -____-

Ok I've looked at the router settings... not sure what I'm looking for or what to do @.@

I don't even know what make or brand of router you are using so can't give exact instructions here but the wireless settings should be fairly obvious. Just set it up to use WPA-2 security, AES encryption then set it to use 802.11n Only, not mixed.

You would then need to delete the old wireless profile and create a new one that matches the settings you used.
