Solved Unidentified Wired Network that doesn't exist

Hello, for the last few days I have had a bit of trouble with my network connection on my laptop. I recently moved up to my college and am now on their network. However, I didn't have this problem at first. But recently if I go to my network connections, there is always a wired connection listed named "Unidentified Network" which has "Limited" access. The problem here is that I am not connected to any wired networks. There is no cable plugged into my computer so I don't understand how this is possible. The only thing I have installed recently is Virtualbox, just in case that could affect it. I don't know how this is happening, but I sure would like to find out! Thanks!

Yes the connection is from the Virtual box which has a static IP. You can usually disable the virtual box to keep the extra network from occurring.

You don't know where the network connection list is or the virtual box software?

You should be able to see the connection in either the Device Manager or the Network Connections area of the Network and Sharing Center.

I'm not even sure what you are using the virtual box for but uninstalling the software may help.

I do know how to find VirtualBox, and since I have a lot of virtuals I use regularly, I would rather not uninstall it at the moment. I don't mind having the virtual connection in my list, as I also have Hamachi in that list. Thank you for the help!

Ahh Hamachi, that explains the loss of connection. I didn't see the Hamachi interface in the ipconfig but Hamachi is famous for causing connection problems such as you are explaining.

Windows doesn't seem to do very well with multiple network interfaces depending on a variety of factors, it's sometimes best to disable any network connections that aren't being used. :geek:
