Here is the location.

Go into Control Panel > More Settings > Network and Sharing Center

Then on the left click "Change Adapter Settings". Should then see Wi fi adapter. a red X means it is disabled.

Is there a wireless icon on one of the keys on the keyboard? It could be a function key.

Based on the below, i would think so Beta. Other than that it could be in the BIOS or maybe he didn't buy the lappy with wifi being an option.

Acer Aspire 1000 Series --Launch Keys above the keyboard
Acer Aspire 1640Z ---- Launch Keys above the keyboard
Acer Aspire 1690 ---- Launch Keys above the keyboard
Acer Aspire 2000 Series ---- Button on the front of the laptop
Acer Aspire 2012 ---- Launch Keys above the keyboard

I alway get a call from my Dad at least once a month saying he can't connect to his wireless network. Its alway the switch on the keyboard that he pressed somethime during the week at work and when he comes home to work from home it does not work. Also he calls at 5am and i don't start work until 10am so it sets me up for a pissed off day.

Beta, I often experience that problem with users. They'll always complain they can't see a network, and I say "Did you check the manual network switch over-ride?"

The answer is always "No".

Arrrrh the old at work it works but at home it doesn't situation. Is there a third party software that is used to connect to wifi? If so that could be it.
