My wireless switch is broken

Is there any way to turn the wireless on?

Uhh what!?? I cant even go on the internet without a wireless connection, well I can only go on this one. But the other one I need to know how to enable wireless connection because my button or wireless switch is broken.

Can't help much if we don't know what computer you have?

In any case, you will need to open up the computer and see if you can force the wireless switch to the on position or bypass (jumper around) it. Other than that you need to replace the switch which a good computer repair shop should be able to do.

I have a sony vaio windows 7 laptop.

What model? Please, just fill in the specs, it will be a lot easier for us.

You can download the program I mentioned on a different computer then put it on a flash drive to use on the one with the wireless problem. You could also connect a Ethernet cable to the problem computer then you would have internet access which trying to fix it.

Was it working before, and do you often switch the WiFi off and on? And are you using Windows 8?

I ask because my WiFi stopped working on my laptop (which had been upgraded from XP), despite the fact that I'd not touched the WiFi switch for ages. Moving the WiFi switch on and off made no difference.

However in my case seemed to be resolved by doing a full Shutdown which bypassed the Windows 8 "Fast Startup", which means Windows 8 by default doesn't fully switch off.

So try this - shut down all applications and then go to a Command Prompt, and type this:

The PC should switch off fully, and it may just clear the problem.
