2 days ago, I bought a laptop with Windows 8, as I wanted something more portable to carry with me.

I decided to set up a HomeGroup, so I could transfer files from my old computer with ease. However, that doesn't appear to be working.

I can connect to my laptop with my old computer(see screenshot below)

However, I am unable to access my PC files from my laptop(see screenshot below)

It just blocks me out - I can't open it.

I'm absolutely positive all the settings match. I've tried to create the homegroup on both my laptop and my computer, but have got the same result.

So what am I not doing, or doing wrong? Thanks for any help, it is greatly appreciated.

Be sure and check under the Advanced Sharing settings, check that both the Private Network and that Guest or Public have Network Discovery Enabled and File and Printer Sharing etc..

When in doubt it's sometimes best to leave the Homegroup on all machine then create a new one and rejoin from the other machine, although I'm sure you tried doing this already?

You might want to also make sure that the C:>Users folder is shared through the Sharing tab like the picture below.
