Mapping Skydrive to network drive

Hi

Ive been using a method to access my Skydrive files in explorer without the need for the Skydrive app. The process is explained here: How To Map SkyDrive Folder As Network Drive In Windows 8 And RT .

It works great on 1 pc I use but on another it doesn't. The problem is it is only showing the Public folder and nothing else. I cant work out why this is the case.

It accepts my credentials fine and connects the drive it just doesn't show the files there. It also doesn't allow me to upload anything else to the drive.

I cant find anyone else that's had this problem let alone a solution. I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks Matt

Hello Omnislash,

Using the SkyDrive desktop app is the easiest way to accomplish this in Windows 8.
However, in Windows 8.1, SkyDrive is fully integrated without the need of the desktop app.
Hope this helps some, :)
Shawn

Let me explain the problem. I have my own personal skydrive that i use a lot. I also use a skydrive for work that i access a lot as well. I need access to both. Sharing files isn't ideal as I need access to all of them not just some. I also want access in explorer which i don't believe skydrive offers with shared files.

In that case, you could sign in to www.skydrive.com to access (upload/download) files from your SkyDrives online from any location.

Probably not what you wanted to hear , but I've just followed the instructions on that page and it connected fine to my mapped networked drive and showed all the files... AND also connected to another skydrive from another account using different credentials just fine also on the same PC at the same time.

One question , do you login to the Win 8 PC having the problems using your Microsoft login or a local one?

I love Windows for the way you can basically make it do what you want and work around me. If Microsoft have something one way most of the time I can change it to work the way I like. This is one such time. The web interface is horrible and I want to use explorer the same way I always have. Thanks anyway.

Ah that's good it worked for you on both accounts. It seems random weather it works or not but there must be something that is affecting it.

I use a roaming domain account. I never thought that could be the issue. I will have a go with a Microsoft and local account and see if that changes anything. Although if that is the cause I cant simply stop using my roaming profile.... Ill post back later. Thanks.

After much messing around Ive worked out Windows creates a credential for d.docs.live.net and making more network drives to that domain just results in it using the last username and password entered. Hence why I see nothing or just the Public folder.

Ive settled on having one Skydrive linked with the app and the second linked with the network drive and that seems to be working great.

Not sure how you, Wullail, managed to get it to link to two with difference credentials as that just doesn't seem to work for me.
