I have a desktop running windows 8, and lately the internet has been cutting on and off for no apparent reason. Wireless still works fine with no problems, it's only the ethernet that's giving me issues.

Any ideas?

Check the power management properties of you network card in the device manager, uncheck the box saying, allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.... :geek:

How are you connecting the cable to get access to the internet? Try plugging the cable into a different port on the router.

I would try uninstalling the the lan port from device manager and then reboot and let windows install it's version. The try and download the latest version supported by your mobo. The next step would be to purchase/install a PCI NIC card...you can get one for less than $20.

I diagnosed the network adapter and it said it didn't have a valid ip configuration, which is strange considering that it worked before and I didn't screw with my ip or anything. Any thoughts?

EDIT: Now instead of cutting in and out, it's out all the time.

If you can post a screen shot of the ipconfig/all from the machine I will have a look at it. :)

Well it magically fixed itself now, but i'll still post the cmd.

Couldn't figure out where to post the picture, so i just copied it onto the about me page in my profile.

I noticed I have an ethernet port in my router called ONT BROADBAND. Could I plug my cable into that?
